SAFE - Support Albania Food Education

The SAFE project action stems from a collaborative effort between two organizations, the Destiny Centre for Excellence
(DCE) and TEAM-Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM), recognizing deficiencies in consumer awareness and administrative
capacity regarding food safety and consumer protection in Albania. The Action “SAFE-Support Albania Food Education” aims
to contribute in improving the effectiveness of the food safety system in Albania.
It has two specific objectives: Specific Objective 1: To strengthen capacities of food supply chain stakeholders to fulfil
their roles and responsibilities in the food safety system as a shared responsibility; and Specific Objective 2: To support
and promote multi-dimensional cooperation of food safety affected actors.
The project is approved by EUD Albania and it will start in February 2025, as stipulated in the grant contract.

13 March 2026 – Europe House, Tirana
English: In the frame of the project “SAFE - Support Albania Food Education”, the project team organized the 1st Round table as foreseen in the project application, on 13th of March 2026, at the Europe House in Tirana. This activity was jointly organized with other organisations implementing similar projects in the field of food safety and consumer protection, such as Alert Center and the “Albanian Consumer” Center, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union in Tirana, in the framework of March 15, World Consumer Rights Day.
Shqip: Në kuadër të projektit “SAFE – Support Albania Food Education”, ekipi i projektit organizoi tryezën e parë të rrumbullakët, siç ishte parashikuar në aplikimin e projektit, më 13 mars 2026, në Shtëpinë e Evropës në Tiranë. Ky aktivitet u organizua bashkërisht me organizata të tjera që zbatojnë projekte të ngjashme në fushën e sigurisë ushqimore dhe mbrojtjes së konsumatorit, si Qendra Alert dhe Qendra “Konsumatori Shqiptar”, me mbështetjen e Delegacionit të Bashkimit Evropian në Tiranë, në kuadër të 15 Marsit, Ditës Botërore të të Drejtave të Konsumatorit.

English: During the period April–May 2026, TEAM Center conducted information sessions in 8 cities across Albania, in the project’s targeted areas with marginalized groups. The high level of participation and the participants’ interest highlighted the importance of information on food safety and consumer protection.
Shqip: Gjatë periudhës Prill–Maj 2026, Qendra TEAM zhvilloi sesione informuese në 8 qytete të Shqipërisë, në zonat e targetuara nga projekti me grupe të margjinalizuara. Pjesëmarrja e lartë dhe interesi i pjesëmarrësve evidentoi rëndësinë që ka informimi mbi sigurinë ushqimore dhe mbrojtjen e konsumatorit.
Eventi Përmbyllës
16 July 2026 – Hotel Tirana
English: In the framework of the SAFE – Support Albania Food Education project, the Center for Excellence Destiny (DCE), in partnership with TEAM Center and with the support of the European Union, organized the closing event of the SAFE project on 16 July 2026, at Hotel Tirana. The event brought together representatives of public institutions, food businesses, farmers, academia, the media, young people, and marginalized communities to reflect on the results achieved and the steps to be undertaken in the future. The event not only promoted the project results and lessons learned, but also enabled dialogue and the exchange of views and recommendations for policymaking and sustainability beyond the project.
Shqip: Në kuadër të projektit SAFE-Support Albania Food Education, Qendra për Ekselencë Destiny (DCE), në partneritet me Qendrën TEAM dhe me mbështetjen e Bashkimit Evropian, organizoi në datë 16 korrik 2026, në mjediset e Hotel Tirana eventin përmbyllës të projektit SAFE. Ky event mblodhi përfaqësues të institucioneve publike, bizneseve ushqimore, fermerëve, akademisë, medias, të rinjve dhe komuniteteve të margjinalizuara, për të reflektuar mbi rezultatet e arritura dhe hapat që duhet të ndërmerren në të ardhmen. Eventi jo vetëm për të promovuar rezultatet e projektit dhe mësimet e nxjerra por gjithashtu mundësoi dialogun dhe shkëmbimin e mendimeve dhe rekomandimet për politikëbërjen dhe qëndrueshmërinë përtej projektit.
